Aleeza Zocchi

MA, LPC, NCC, C-TGM

Welcome! My name is Aleeza Zocchi and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Owner of Maypop Counseling. I have been a practicing counselor for ten years. I grew up in Denver as a fifth generation Coloradan! Taking interest in mental health, and neurodivergence as I attended a school for kids with learning differences. I became interested at an early age in how individuals perceive the world around them and how they overcome obstacles through resiliency.

I went on to get my undergraduate in Psychology, and later my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a specialization  in Child and Adolescent Play Therapy from University of Northern Colorado (UNC), graduating in 2020. During my time at UNC, I conducted research, joining a psych lab investigating the effects of adverse childhood experiences on learning outcomes in college age students. During my time conducting studies and running statistical analysis, I became more interested in the research-side of Psychology.

I worked at a large private practice in Denver gaining experience for over ten years working with children and teens with neurodivergence. I ran social skill development groups and summer intensive groups for over five years. I worked as a Clinical Intake Coordinator holding intakes with individuals and families, and connecting them with therapeutic providers for four years. Concurrently, I was working one-on-one in a clinical setting with individuals with Eating Disorders and Bi-Polar.

In 2025, I became trained in the Game To Grow method of Therapeutically Applied, Table-Top Role Playing Games. Learning how to incorporate games such as Dungeons and Dragons into a therapeutic setting.  This contributed to my enjoyment in finding creative outlets, such as RPGs or drawing, in therapy as I don’t believe the traditional face-to-face talk therapy approach is for everyone. I operate in therapy with the belief that resiliency and fostering self-acceptance and compassion, is the baseline needed for long-term growth.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature with my husband and Aussie Pup-Ollie, hiking, camping, and fly fishing. I enjoy creative outlets such as pottery, board games, and role-playing games.

Why Maypop

Maypop, also known as Passion Flower, Apricot Vine, or Passiflora incarnata is a plant native to the southeastern US and South America. While the flower is gorgeous, and has a fun name, it has also been used historically to treat anxiety, inattentiveness due to ADHD, and insomnia, far before we even knew what they were. While the effects of this plants have not been scientifically studied, this plant has been a cultural ingredient to treating physical, and mental conditions for centuries.

Similar to the Maypop plant, therapy has been useful for treating various mental health conditions, albeit with far more scientific backing. I strive to take inspiration from the Maypop flower in my therapeutic approach as I work with you to navigate the daily challenges of living in this stressful world. Whether you are navigating Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Autism, or an Eating Disorder, I am honored to work with you.
